Sunday

After church I went to Mom and Dad's to pick up a pole saw for a neighbor who was struggling to trim some high branches damaged by the ice storm.  His wife is a PT and is working part time at the VA. I quizzed her about suggestions she might have and she said that she would provide me with some OT Dad should be able to do on his own. She also had some suggestions on how to handle the meeting with the case worker and dept. heads. I also spoke with a dietitian from our church and she had some good suggestions as well.

To be honest, I did not want to go the the hospital today. I expected to find the same apathy and ignore-ance that has been the norm for the past week. Charlotte and I stopped by a little after 6 pm. Dad was in bed and had finished his supper. From the sound of it, there were not many calories ingested. He said that he had a busy day. He had walked 54' and had used a hand bike while sitting in a chair in the "gym". He also took a shower. I don't know if the slick board had anything to do with it, but someone had re-written my goals and notes so that they were legible. Mom told me that Dad had lost 25lbs. since he got there, I added NUTRITION to the slick board today.

I am grateful that Dad had some activity today. I pray that we can achieve some consistency and become a priority in a holistic regimen tomorrow.

God is good!
